in 2023  I had the opportunity once again to shoot a big outdoor concert event with the headliner Blue Rodeo. I was asked by a representative from Shaw TV in the North Okanagan if I would like to travel with him up to Sicamouse B.C. where this outdoor event was being staged. Upon arrival at the back gate to the parking area I was greeted by one of the event organizers who had herd about my classic rock concert photography. He said here is your all access pass and I don't want you to be here for shooting the bands on stage but to concentrate more on shooting the people in and around the event. This would also include now for those of you that are not familiar with what Sicamouse is famous for is it is the House Boat capital of Canada. So instead of the bands having trailers or backstage tenting areas they had set up several house boats around the site to have access to.

During the late afternoon in the hot sun I found myself wandering in and out of the lawn chairs approaching people and photographing long grey beards, tattoos, piercing, colored hair smoking Pot, and some just plain wasted. I had asked a couple sitting on their lawn chairs if I could take their picture and showed them my photo pass. Then I had a tap on my back shoulder. It was a young girl about 22 and asked me "Who's the most famouse band you have ever photographed?". I thought and said I guess The Rolling Stones. She jumped up and down and said don't go anywhere. I have to get my friends to meet you. I continued on to the next couple who were stoned out of there minds smoking a joint when once again I had a tap on my shoulder. She had brought three of her girlfriends back and asked. This time I want to point out she rephrased her question differently. " Who's the most famous PERSON you have photographed? So I want you to look up at the top of the page for this answer. Yes Pope John Paul I said back to the 22 yr. old. "WHO!". NO she replied tell my friends about the other guy you told me. Oh I said back. You mean Mic Jagger!  I told them that I had shot 3 or 4 different tours. They were all so excited.

So My question to you the reader of this story as I want you to look at these two pictures above. Who today is the most famous person on this planet? The Pope or Mick Jagger. For me I am a Christian and the Pope is well respected to a great deal of the worlds population. On the other hand Mick Jagger and his lips is a person that can't be denied also. I will never forget that expression of the young girl "WHO!".
